The elites may really believe that overpopulation is a real threat. However, ironically the science clearly disputes this. The Malthusian theory was destroyed and all predictions fell short. I believe they use this reasoning to justify their goals, they believe it is utilitarianism, but nothing is further from true. This planet can support everyone living today! It's the giant corporations and governments that destroy resources and the planets ecosystems.
